Grade 10 English

*Students are finishing their Argumentative Presentations.  Students were required to present on an argumentative topic for five minutes, utilizing two props to support their stance.  Students were graded not only on content, but on posture, eye contact, volume, pace, and poise.  The presentations will continue until Thanksgiving break.  

 Grade 11 English:

*Students are currently working on a Transcendentalist Unit

*Students have studied numerous texts from Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau.  They are now required to create their own Transcendentalist Society.   The society must exemplify the ideals of transcendentalism.  They must create a pledge, flag, monetary system, criminal system, job requirement plan, and setting for their society.

They will present on their societies after Thanksgiving break.

Grade 12 English:

*Students have just finished reading A Midsummer Night's Dream, and writing a critical response to the text.

Over the next few days students will be watching the movie that accompanies the text and responding to it. 

AP English:

*Students must finish Explicating the last act of Othello on their own. This is due on Monday, Nov. 25th.

Students will take an exam on Othello on Tuesday, Nov. 26th. 

Public Speaking:

*Students are currently working on How-To Presentations.  They must create a 6 to 8 minute presentation on how to do something.  They must have multiple props to demonstrate their task.  The presentation must include a solid introduction and conclusion.

*Students in writing skills will be taking a grammar quiz at the end of the week.  They must know Subject, Verb, Kernel Sentence, Preposition and Thesis Statement, Fragment and Runon.
